The Living Art Project is a nice innovative take on art by visual artist Stuart Atteberry, in Minneapolis. Instead of his art being static, over time is evolves, and I am meaning that in the most literal sense of the word.
Starting off with a few images generated with randomised attributes, so as to create unique images.
These images are then shown, three at a time, to visitors to the site, and the visitor needs to choose which of the three is the most attractive. The images are then sorted by popularity, and the bottom third are removed.
After this the remaining images create “child” images, by combining the elements of two images – much like real life DNA passes to children from parents.
The new set of images then repeats this cycle, and in theory, the images should become more and more attractive over time.
I think that this concept is purely awesome.
